Our Story – A Tale of Several Cities

Austin, TX to Woburn, MA – Long story short, we met at a wedding!  Rob’s best friend, Rob McDonough, married Lori Spencer on June 8th, 2013.  Darcy and Lori had become friends while Lori was visiting her brother in Austin, and she invited Darcy to attend the wedding.  Two nights before the wedding, at the rehearsal, Darcy and Rob met.  On the way home, McDonough said to Darcy, “Not sure if you’re seeing anyone back in Austin, but Rob is a good guy.”  Darcy told him Rob had already made an impression on her from the brief conversations they had at the rehearsal dinner!  Two days later at the McDonoughs’ wedding, Darcy and Rob got to know each other a bit better and a connection was made.  Rob got Darcy’s phone number, and a long-distance relationship was born.

Tyngsboro, MA to Denver, CO  – Rob received an offer to move from Boston to Denver 6 months later and soon after asked Darcy to move in with him.  Darcy (ever the realist) said they should wait until the lease on his 1 bedroom apartment ended, so they could get a bigger place for her stuff (Rob had no idea how much stuff) and her big pup, Roscoe.

Austin, TX to Aurora, CO – In January of 2015, Rob, Darcy and Roscoe made the drive to Denver from Austin.  A broken car window in freezing temps (but no snow!) and 900+ miles later, they arrived at their new home in Aurora, CO.

Aurora, CO to Crystal Beach, TX – Darcy’s family takes an annual trip down to the Texas coast for a family vacation every year.  2016 marked the 25th anniversary of this tradition!  Darcy, Rob and Roscoe loaded up the jeep and started the 1100+mile trek.  About halfway there, Darcy mentioned to Rob that she thought they had met sometime around that date three years ago…Rob just aloofly said, “oh yeah?” Darcy had no idea that he actually memorized the exact date they had met.  A couple of nights later at the beach house, after everyone had gone to bed, Rob brought up this conversation.  He said that we had met exactly three years ago to that day (June 6th) and that he wanted to spend the rest of our years together.  He knelt on one knee and asked the question that so many girls want to hear.  Instead of bursting into tears like other future brides…Darcy jumped up and down like a crazy person in excitement and said, “yes, yes, yes!”  She had known, before she left Texas, that this was the man she wanted to marry.  Rob had echoed this sentiment, saying he knew how he felt about Darcy even when they had met way back at the McDonough wedding!

Austin, TX – On October 28th, 2017, Rob and Darcy will marry in holy matrimony with their closest friends and family bearing witness.  We cannot wait to have everyone together in one place to celebrate our love for each other, and the love we have for all of you.
